The hair products we use at Bucks Cuts (and which one suits your hair)

A great cut can look average with the wrong product in it. The right one makes it look like you've just left the chair, every morning.
These are the five products we reach for most at Bucks Cuts, what each one does, and how to tell which one is right for you. If you're not sure, ask at your next appointment and we'll show you how to use it.
Styling powder
A light powder you shake onto dry roots and work in with your fingers. It adds lift and grip without any shine or weight, so hair looks fuller and stays where you put it.
Best for: fine or flat hair, textured crops and messy fringes that need volume at the root.
Texture clay
Our go-to for most short styles. Clay gives a strong, matt hold with natural movement, so the hair has shape but doesn't look stuck down. It can be restyled through the day with damp fingers.
Best for: textured crops, mod cuts and anything with a bit of length on top. Use a small amount, warm it between your palms, and work it in from the back forwards.
Hairspray
The finishing step that locks everything in place. A light mist at the end keeps the shape all day, especially in wind and rain.
Best for: setting a style you've built with powder or clay, and longer styles that need to hold their shape.
Curl cream
Curly and afro hair needs moisture, not stiff hold. Curl cream defines each curl, cuts down frizz and keeps the hair soft, so the shape of the cut shows.
Best for: curls, coils and afro hair. Apply to damp hair and scrunch, rather than brushing it through.
Semi-permanent enhancements
A finishing touch that sharpens the look of a hairline, fade or beard line, making the edges look crisp and full. Because it's semi-permanent, it fades out gradually rather than leaving a hard line.
Best for: clients who want a sharp, defined finish for a big occasion, or a beard that looks fuller. Ask about it when you book.
Not sure which one you need?
Most people use the wrong product, or too much of the right one. Bring it up in your consultation and we'll tell you what suits your hair and cut, and show you how to style it at home. See all our cuts and prices, or read about the tools we use.
